Welcome to the Arthur Square Class of Instruction

The Arthur Square class of Instruction, regarded as being one of the oldest within the Irish Constitution, was founded in Belfast in the year 1916. A class which has during the ensuring years specialised in the tuition of Craft Rituals, Ceremonies and Degrees, providing a high standard of service through a wide and varied programme. Despite the hardships of World War and Civil unrest, the class continued throughout those difficult years encouraging and preparing its members in the duties and responsibilities of their elected offices and guiding them to a high sense of competence and wellbeing.

It has had the distinction on several occasions to demonstrate a series of programmes before the Very Worshipful the Grand Lodge of Instruction, highlighting the many popular aspects of Craft Ritual including the lesser worked ceremonies which have been greatly enjoyed by appreciative audiences not only within our own jurisdiction but also before brethren of the English Constitution.

Tuition is ever rendered not in the schoolroom manner but in a friendly and engaging format, always observing the masonic tenet of peace, love and harmony prevailing, thereby promoting an enthusiastic response from our membership. During our annual session extending from the first Thursday in September to the fourth Thursday in March between the hours of seven and nine, all aspects of Craft Ritual are performed. Details of which are highlighted in a printed booklet as well online, with some 25 nights being devoted to this purpose.

Despite our dedication to the practice os Ritual, we are ever mindful of the need for leisure time. This takes the form of four evenings per session when the membership retire to the Festive Board to enjoy a meal and light entertainment together. The session culminates in the annual weekend trip to Scotland a custom which has been a class feature for more than 30 years and which has proved a popular event with our members.

To avail yourself of the friendship and fellowship, there is but one stipulation. New members must be subscribing Master Masons at time of enrolment. So come along and enjoy the experience!
